Penn Entertainment to Help US Veterans

American entertainment company, Penn Entertainment, has announced a philanthropic scheme to support National Guard military veterans and active military duty students through a scholarship at Penn State Berks, an American college.

The PENN Entertainment Military Scholarship will help those in financial hardship access higher education. Senior Vice President of Public Affairs and Chairman of the ESG Committee for PENN Entertainment, Eric Schippers, said, “We are thrilled to partner with Penn State Berks on the creation of this scholarship, which further strengthens our support for the military and our local community." Penn Entertainment operates 43 land-based casinos, offers sports betting, and has five online iGaming brands.

Brazil Awaits News of Provisional Measures

Brazil is still waiting for the official announcement of the Provisional Measure regarding online gambling. The Diário Oficial (The Official Gazette), the official means of communication for Brazil's National Press (Imprensa Nacional), will publish the announcement. News is anticipated to be released before the end of the month.

Fernando Haddad, the Brazilian Minister of Finance, has previously spoken of his support for providing revenue that would greatly benefit the country. The measures should also detail new roles, their responsibilities regarding the changes, and guidelines to support risk management.

iGaming Events Success

June is a busy month in the iGaming calendar. The WeAreGame team was lucky enough to attend the fantastic SiGMA Americas BiS, in São Paulo, Brazil, from the 14th-18th of June 2023, which was a great success.

The second week in June was busy in Latin America, as the Peru Gaming Show 2023 (PGS) also took place in Lima between the 14th and 15th of June, with an exclusive networking event taking place on the 13th. Also, iGaming NEXT Valletta ‘23 was a fun-filled event in Malta that took place from the 21st to the 22nd of June. All events were well attended and provided a chance to meet fellow professionals from the iGaming world.

Hard Rock to Open New Ottawa Casino

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, which has resorts across the Americas, the Caribbean, Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Asia, have announced their plan to open a new resort in Ottawa, Ontario. The resort, set to open in 2025, will be the first owned by the Hard Rock in Canada.

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Ottawa will have 150 rooms, 22 of which will be suites. It will also boast 1,500 slots, 40 live-action table games, high-limit gaming, a Baccarat room, and a Hard Rock Sportsbook. The entertainment doesn’t stop there, as there will also be a massive theatre with 1,800 seats and room for 2,200 standing guests. After all that action, guests can fill up in any of the 10+ restaurants, bars and lounges and enjoy some retail therapy in the shopping outlets.

Great American Workplace

American gaming company and casino giant Mohegan, started in Connecticut in 1996, ranked 85th in the Top 100 Most Loved Workplaces. Companies are nominated to be part of the list, and employees then answer a few quick questions about why their workplace is such a rewarding environment. Best Practice Institute research organisation aided the research, and more than 2 million people participated. The survey measured employees’ level of satisfaction in areas such as leadership, respect, values, and inclusion.

Founded in 1996, Mohegan grew, and its resorts spread across the US with locations including Pennsylvania, Atlantic City, Washington State and Niagara Falls. The company will soon be opening their new INSPIRE Entertainment Resort in South Korea

President and CEO of Mohegan, Ray Pineault, said "I am honoured and humbled that Mohegan has been named to the Newsweek Top 100 Global Most Loved Workplaces list and to have been ranked at 85. This is an exciting result after Mohegan was ranked among the Top 100 US Companies in 2022."
